@ colabeyya: what on earth does that mean? a cocacola muslim?

i agree with athifa... the thing with some people, especially lots of Maldivians, is that we are extremely narrow minded people. we do not accept that another view can exist, except ours. when i was in college most of my class mates were non-muslims; but their faith was theirs, mine was mine. they accepted me for who i am, never for once did they tell me to convert or preach their faith.

our generation is spiritually void, that's why most of us feel that entering another place of worship, being friends with people from other religions is a way of aberration from the religion...

I think in their madrasaas they have a special class for increasing showmanship, because Fareed's extravaganza last night was no less spectacular in the drama quotient. That novel koran recitation and preaching mix, that burning background! Amazingly effective. I can visibly see the beards growing while he spoke!

One cannot reject something one doesn´t know and can therefore not judge.
You have your "scholars" who allow you what to read, think and what not. By insisting, they have total control. Why allow people to read the Bible or any book on other religions besides Islam?
See, having a choice is not good for your health.
If I were in "scholars" shoes, I would love to keep it this way! After all, the method is time proven and wonderful for those who intend to exert power.
No Koran/Bible comparisons for those interested in the issue but instead the often repeated and unproven mantra: Islam is the fastest growing religion...hey!
Can you imagine how fantastic it is to read every book one really wishes to read? Browse the online booksellers, read what other readers have to say and then order...? It´s a whole world apart. No, believe me please, I didn´t want to make you envious...
