Good riddance of bad rubbish
And the "bad rubbish" really became pathetic rubbish in the last couple of days.
I'm sure this is not the end of the drama. The handing over the position of the top job of the country will surely be followed by more of the pathetic attempts to hijack people's sympathy. Gayoom is really like a parasitic growth that has been feeding off this nation and unfortunately this growth has acquired the capability to show emotion at the last moment and so is supposedly sad to leave the host.
Where were your tears when several Dhivehin, your own countrymen, died in that atrocious prison shooting, Mr. Gayoom?
I mean, what's with the crocodile tears? I am getting sick to the bone seeing the man making it look like he's parting with his grandmother's heirloom or something. Only Gayoom could harbour such delusions.
Gayoom can try for the "poor old man who loved his country is sacked by the people but he still love the country" line and win a few sympathies. But Gayoom will never be elected as the president of Dhivehi Raaje again. Never.
No matter what Gayoom says there is no changing the past. There is no changing the fact that he ruled like a tyrant and lived like a king for 30 long years. I have no sympathy for this man. Not one ounce, not one atom's worth. He's got tears when HE's about to lose everything. Can we weight those few drops to the amount of tears shed by the likes of Evan Naseem's mother and countless others? There is absolutely no way!
As far I am concerned it is good riddance to him, his family and all his deluded cronies and clowns. So feck off!

Man, you ramble a lot, don't ya? And mostly without any merit or substance.
Must be a childhood thing, me thinks.

Did maumoon kill evan naseem or i thought it was a bunch of prison gaurds?

What difference does it make? If Maumoon had acted more responsible (rather than spending time counting stars from the telescope atop Theemuge) and instead took sometime to read through Lieutenant Ashwan's report, the Evan tragedy would have been avoided.
True that Maumoon did not physically hold the gun which shot bullets supposedly into the havaa, fazaa, javvu, but he is morally responsible for Evan's death and the other deaths resulting from the consequences.
I have many family members, neighbours and friends who support Maumoon blindly. It's a problem with many Dhivehin. When they love a person or support a person they have blind faith. They turn their backs on the bad things that a person has committed.
I support Anni but I don't always agree with him and have even told my criticisms right to his face whenever I meet him person.
And while I have to agree that Maumoon did have some good, the atrocities he committed far outweigh any good he did. For instance, if he gave loans to a person, it was to ensure that person's loyalty. It wasn't out of Maumoon's altruism or humanity.
That's my main problem with Maumoon. He lacks altruism and humanity, and therefore, almost everything he did was to meet his own selfish needs, at the expense of others. I mean, a person who could tarnish the image of his own brother-in-law Ilyas Ibrahim just because the poor guy (irony intended) had a wish to rule Maldives as well.

Is it going to be the same case when anni comes in? When a girl gets raped in a house in male', when a guy gets slaughtered on the streets, when some lunatic dies while trying to defy the orders of guards in a prison, will it be anni who will take the blame from today? One man cannot take all the blame, hence we have a cabinet, a parliament and so on. If you are going to carry on with this blame it on one person thing, start practicing "mee anni ge balaayey" now. Believe me, you will soon need to start using that.
Maumoon and his loans are his thing. And his intentions are all kept within him. How can someone claim that he gave what ever he gave in return for loyalty? It is one thing to hate someone, but it is another to tell everyone else about someone elses intention with so much confidence.
For ilyas, I believe that if someone were to try and whip up some magic or anything of that caliber to kill you or do harm to you just so that he can take over your position, you would react in a similar manner.
Vaa nuvaa,
In Gayoom's days he reigned supreme over all affairs of the state. You must know there is a separation of powers now. Of course this does not mean Anni won't be held accountable for incompetency and abuse of power within his domain.
Gayoom is a classic example of absolute power corrupting absolutely. You only see his loans because this is relatively new information. 30 years of his history is replete with corruption and tyranny. Please refresh your memory. In fact, President Nasheed's past is marked by the bruises of Gayoom's iron fist of power falling on him for such things as sedition and general dissent.
I have confidence in President Nasheed until he proves he's not worthy of having confidence.
With regard to Ilyas's case: I do not believe in magic and do not believe there is power in it to even lift a hair let alone murder someone. Gayoom was crazy to believe in that nonsense.

Vaa Nuvaa, the difference between the 4th President Anni, and the 3rd President Maumoon is very stark. Well, one is short, kinda fat and kinda old while the other is dark, average height and looks more Maldivian, that said... there are more differences!
Maumoon was, judge jury and executioner in his rule, there were no separation of powers. He was the head of state, judiciary, AND the head of NSS! He was the finance minister, the MMA governor, he was a one man show! He was in effect, an autocratic leader! What I am trying to say is; any thing that happens under an autocratic leader, is his fault cos he does have control over everything, from the cabinet, defense to the economy to religion. He was KING!!
Anni is a democratically elected president. He is no longer the head of judiciary. He has limited powers, unlike Maumoon. So when things start going wrong, for eg, in the judiciary, I see no reason why we should run around shouting "Mee Annige Balaaaa"!!

That's what you get when you have a egocentric, attention seeking, narcissistic man for in power so long. he just needs closure and that will start when he has to start defending his actions in court.Tears are not for the rejection but for loosing the power he held for so long.
