We are almost there...
As the result so far show it appears that the vast majority of Dhivehin want a change. This in itself is a superb victory and has sent a powerful message to Gayoom and his band of the criminally insane. After 30 years of enjoying 80 to 95 percent choice votes from the entire country, the old man and minions are at just a paltry 40%.
The vote for change has worked and although I am still skeptical and still cautious I cannot help feel a tingle of happiness. Why the optimism? First and foremost because Dhivehin have proven to be much more steadfast and desperate in their quest to see change. And this is what is seen in the vote counts.
Let's join forces and unite in kicking this old habit of ours that is Gayoom. Let us completely transform our thinking and remove the traces of Gayoom from our hearts.
I can almost feel the winds of freedom from this oppressive and corrupt regime coming to an end today. I can feel it when I close my eyes. Let us unite now and show solidarity in our collective desire to see change. Let us say enough is enough in the next round.
We are almost there...

Careful what you wish for Simon. Sometimes what we wish for do come true you know ;)
But seriously regarding what's at hand, I personally believe it's these 2 retards she-male Hassan Saeed & the Burumaa who messed up our opportunity to oust this Golhaa bitch today!

the first chance is gone, but we have a second chance filled with hopes and possibilities. if we sum up anni + hassan + qasim + (and though very few) ibra + umar, we could oust the dictator easily. but what we should not forget is his 30 experience in rigging votes! lets vote for a change, lets vote to oust the dictator! it will be a joyous day!

I am not a Maumoonian but i know that bloke Anni is not capable of being a president. It is as simple as that.Anni may have a voice for the people of Maldives, but he is not "worth" or qualified to be the president of the poeple of Maldives.A person with lack of professional thinking, with all that power for the first time in life, god knows what will happen.
Mau Mune | October 10, 2008 1:54 AM | Reply
Hey, Out of Order, your statement does not hold too much water.
Anni may not be "presidential" material ... but so what? Neither was the Sissy Dr., Burumaa or "Death Gallows" Umar. It's a known fact that Maumoon was rotten to the core. Is that what you want in your "qualified, professional thinking" president???
Anni is as good as any person to lead this country. He is one person - ONE PERSON WHO btw MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN OUR LIVES.
He deserves it and he'll most likely get it.
Anni's activist thinking and methods may still prove to be what the average, hard working Maldivian needs. Not the "thinking" of the royal and refined, out of Maldives educated individual who probably has never said or done anything to help his fellow countryman.
Anni for president. Anni for change. Period!!!

We've sent a clear message in the 1st round. Let's all unite and get rid of Maumoon in the 2nd round.

Mau Mune,
Yeah Anni made a big difference in our lives, christians on the rise, gang violence on the rise, student's unacceptable behaviour on the rise...We didn't see these types of things 7 years ago, before Anni and his cronies started this type of bullshit.
Anni and his people are not disciplined for them to rule our country.
Hassan Saeed is now sold out with his act.He joined MDP not to support Anni but it is just to prove that he is a hardcore opposer to Maumoon, and to run for president 5 years later.

Woopsie, inerd.
I don't have a problem with a couple more Christians in this country. For that matter people of any faith. Umm ... well, actually I do have a problem with some stupid faiths and how it is practiced ... don't want to name any though :) See, the thing is the "Muslims" in this country are way worse. Just 'cas they carry the name of "good Muslims" they are simply hypocrites who will sell God for the price of a Bodu Gulha. So like I said, I don't mind the religious bullshit. Kinda like the ideology of secularism.
Unacceptable behavior to you, btw, may not always be a bad thing for something else. So that is also just a matter of opinion. So no problem there either. I somehow sense you are one of those "self righteous refined" individuals who think they are better than the average Maldivian.
Oh and, I don't like the Sissy Dr. Hassan Saeed. Not one bit. To me he is just a traitor to his people.
Now your turn to scream :)))) Toodles.

hey hey hey guys!... This the time for unity... The time shout in one voice. You can have your differences somewhere else.. But right now we have to unite to bring down the Dictator, if we really want to...
BTW I am a Ibra supporter and voted for him. But I am backing Anni, I don't believe he is presidential material but, the chances are high on bringing him down rather than Yaamin, Thasmeen and Farish/Qassaan (As they will be ruling from now, not Maumoon)
Sappe | October 11, 2008 11:54 AM | Reply
guess what...if gasim endorses maumoon in the second round of the election DO sappe's gonna have butterflies in his stomach...
Heck...we might even see a blue DO..
Mau Mune | October 11, 2008 1:40 PM | Reply
Actually Sappe, if Gasim endorses Maumoon, Anni/MDP can very well kiss the presidency bye bye.
Sad but true!!!
Like I said before Sissy Saeed and Qasim are the traitors to the country and they messed up this once in a lifetime opportunity for the opposition to bring the Golhaa bitch down.
Anni 2013 | October 11, 2008 1:45 PM | Reply
Put another spin on the results, and you have 74% of Maldivians who do not want Anni as president. At best, the run-off will result in Maumoon 65%, Anni 35%.
Meanwhile, Hassan Saeed & co. with their stronger than expected showing in these elections, will be even more sure of Hassan Saeed 2013.
We have lost this, but kudos to Anni for continuing the agitation...

Guys!
Forget all this religion and Sappey and DO and all that crap! The hour is serious! There is no time for argument!
If you do not like Anni, you can get rid of him much easily than you would a Gayoom after another 5 years! The benefits of getting rid of Gayoom NOW and putting someone else there for the next 5 years, with the entire opposition backing that person, are far more greater than not doing anything by thinking Anni is not presidential material.
No president on earth was ever presidential material before being given the job. No husband was husband material before getting married. No father was ready to be a father until the day the first child was born.
Vote Anni... Vote for AGAINST MAUMOON! It is time!
