Dhivehin, Champions of Democracy!
Words have failed me. Words simply failed me. I've started writing and stopped innumerable times because emotions took over. Dhivehin have proven beyond any doubt that they are not what they seem to be. What a day. What a beautiful day.
Congratulations to Mohamed Nasheed "Anni", my champion of freedom, our hero and leader of the free people of Dhivehi Raaje.
Congratulations to Dr. Hassan Saeed, Buruma Gasim and Ibra without whose support we'd be in darker and vulgar times.
Congratulations to all those who worked day and night to spread the word of truth.
See, truth has prevailed today. And I am humbled by the unity and the strong will of Dhivehin. What a people we are! Dhivehin are truly Champions of Democracy and our message will echo throughout the world.
The revolution is here! Let us begin the process of rebuilding towards prosperity and peace.

We had underestimated dhivehin. This will be without a doubt one of the most defining moments in the history of our little nation.
I thank them for restoring some of the lost faith I had on humanity. We have demonstrated acutely the power of The Vote! The time is now, for peace & reconciliation. The road ahead is long and difficult, and this is but the necessary first step...
I salute anni & the coalition, and I am humbled by the force of People Power that dhivehin have demonstrated

I believe as individuals each of us has a part to play in taking this country to a more prosperous country. The weight on us is no less than whats on the leadership. If we all hold hands and walk towards our goals as Maldivians leaving aside our differences in thoughts and actions I believe we can reach the other Maldives very soon.

Can we arrange a transition lodge for this Maumoon guy, where he can shake off 30 years of living in a public funded palace?

People! People! This is just the beginning. We should not make the same mistake our parents made by submitting ourselves to what ever the President says. absolute power corrupts absolutely, so we should keep watch on the new president and give this country the chance to really emerge as a great democracy.
Remember, 'Absolute power corrupts absolutely'

It's an amazing feeling isn't it... it's like the first taste of Freedom in way too long, and suddenly the moment is as beautiful as the country itself.
But the real work that lies ahead ... will be immensly difficult... and our leader has yet to live up to his promises...
I can't help being cautious although celebratory!

Yes, the people you have picked on and ridiculed, mentioned as typical stupid maldivians have made a change.. unbelievable, yes, suprised? no! and suddenly you praise them and place them on a pedestal.. Ah simon, your childish behaviour and attention seeking syndrome has got no limits.
