99% Human

...and 1% Muslim.

It is funny how we sort of pride ourselves proclaiming we are a 100% muslim country. I wonder who came up with that particular statistic? Do they mean the country itself (and not the people)? Because, I have yet to see a 100% muslim among those people that I know (and there are few 100 I know).

I used to believe in that bold statement. But now, when I think about it, it is really a way of saying that we wash our asses instead of wiping after ourselves. I think that's where the real difference lies. And even there I think some of us maybe secretly committing the sacrilegious act of using only toilet tissue.

For a 100% muslim nation we sure do have a lot of non-muslim activities going on: sodomy, homosexuality, child abuse, rape, dubious businesses, corruption, bribery, adultery and the list goes on.

Not only are we lying to everyone but the really ridiculous thing is that they KNOW we are lying. Just ask the royal Arab millionairs. They've been here doing the whole Maldivian thing: what we do in other countries, of course.

So next time when someone asks me "hey I heard that Maldives is 100% muslim" I'm just going to exaggerate a little and say "yeah, and 100% heterosexual too! And, dood, pour some more of that shit, it's good stuff!".

And before I say something that would make a 100% muslim want to do something really non-muslim to me, let me get off this toilet-seat of a cyber-cafe-chair and wash my ass.

Can we ever be a 100% muslim country? The fact that we say that we are one today, actually proves us wrong, in believing a blatant lie, no? So unless the above-mentioned sacriligous activity of arse-wiping (among others) stops , we are bound on a never ending circle, of useless statistical half-truths.

the people who support the 100% Muslim Myth are the very people who have allowed the moral degeneration of the maldives: the authorities... authorities, as in those who have (officially) influenced today's generation. the teachers, the parents, the govt, etc.
in religion, our parents and our teachers taught us to blindly believe rather than to reason. and they taught us to fear rather than to love and appreciate. they taught us narrow-mindeness when Islam calls for open-mindedness. and when their children go to the devil, they blame the internet, the tvs and the radios but not themselves... ahivakakaa jehi ahivah faavaane, true. but who allowed the ahivah to fall?

That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born inside a prison that you cannot smell, taste, or touch. A prison for your mind. Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. (Produces a box containing two colored pills, one blue and one red.) This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill, the story ends, you awake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

So I am curious about this statement. What does it mean if the ahivah falls? Some sort of Maldivian folklore?

"ahivakakaa jehi ahivah faavaane, true. but who allowed the ahivah to fall?"

ahivakakaai jehi ahivah faavaaney...its an expression. a metaphor. an ahiva is (i think) a noni. if a noni hits another, the other would rot, or go bad, or something. if something/someone bad comes to you, you are influenced by it/him/her to become bad yourself.
im just saying that while the govt and authorities are really trying (superficially) to protect our youth from falling nonies, they're realling not doing anything to prevent them from falling. like cutting down the tree, maybe? --ok, getting too metaphorical here.

Yes, ahivah is a noni, that's the Tahitian word for the fruit. Indian mulberry is the common English name, and Morinda citrifolia is the scientific name. That is actually how I found this website, as I was trying to find some information on Ahiva in the Maldives, as it grows well on the atolls here (as it does in all atolls, including the PAcific). Trying to find some information on the medicinal knowledge associated with it here, as I am suppose to find some livelihoods projects for the outer islands here. Noni is a reasonable source of income for farmers in French Polynesia and the Cook ISlands, as well as other small PAcific Island countries.

Anyway, thanks for the explanation.
